Jorja Smith Is Reluctant About Love In 'The One'

2018 has been pretty good to Jorja Smith. The singer dropped her debut, Lost & Found, to critical acclaim, headlined her very own tour and even learned last week that she'd scored a GRAMMY nod for Best New Artist. Jorja's not resting on her accolades, though, as she's currently in the middle of the North American leg of her tour, which is set to wrap just before the holidays. She's also found time to give fans a video for her moody track "The One."

The video for the song, about her reluctance to accept love due to being hurt so many times before, finds the British star playing a woman lying in bed in a motel room as a man dresses in the background. Her relationship with the man is not explained nor is the reason for their motel meetups (though from the settings and context clues, it seems that something illicit is going down between them). What is expressed, though, is Jorja's emotional vulnerability as she sings about her inability to allow herself to need someone else. It's a somber clip, for sure. But given the vibe of this particular song and others on Lost & Found, are we really surprised that Jorja can manage to find the beauty and tenderness in moments that seem solemn?

Watch the songstress show us range in the clip for "The One" below. And if you wanted to catch her live and happen to live in or around Silver Spring, Maryland, her tour rolls into your area on December 11th.
