Georgia Anne Muldrow Gives Us A Visual 'Overload'

Georgia Anne Muldrow came correct with her Brainfeeder debut Overload. The collection is full of jams that speak to the heart, soul and intellect equally. What else would you expect from the multi-talented singer-songwriter who invented staying woke? One of the album's best tracks, though, is the lead single and title track. "Overload" is a simple love song with an undeniable groove that we couldn't get enough of. Now Georgia is bringing it to life with the song's visual.

It opens with GAM holding court in her dressing room looking fabulously fly in a Fela Kuti tee and Kente cloth skirt and headwrap. She's surrounded by reporters trying to get a scoop, and she happily obliges with words about her love. But that's not the only look she serves in the clip. She also flexes her fly in a baby pink cape draped over an all-white 'fit, her signature Afro out in all its glory as she croons while her real-life bae Dudley Perkins watches in the distance.

"'Overload' felt like such a contrast between chaos and control that I wanted to find a subtle way to relay – in a way that allowed the non-core fans to meet her and gave the core a champion," the video's director Capricorn Clark said in a statement about the clip's creative direction. "Aretha Franklin kept coming to mind, and an image of her in her dressing room kept coming back to me, so I built a world around that. Georgia is a huge being. She emotes this light, but she isn’t aiming for the spotlight, so I had to bring the light to her.”
