Black Thought Gets Sentimental In 'Conception'

The Roots frontman Black Thought has released his latest single "Conception" ahead of the release of his new EP Streams of Thought Vol. 2. He's getting us primed and ready with this rollout by channeling his best Marvin Gaye, showcasing his vocals the minute the track starts. Produced by Salaam Remi and also featuring Reek Ruffin, "Conception" shows a different side of Black Thought we wouldn't mind seeing and hearing more of.

The mid-tempo track sets the stage for a story of a young couple in the music video. The man is trying to be a fashion designer, and we watch scenes of him hustling and working on designs, saving a special piece for his woman. We watch their relationship unfold as we get scenes of Black Thought delivering bar after bar in front of an old school mic, while he's flanked by beautiful dancers.

Black Thought's forthcoming EP is the follow-up to Streams of Thought Vol. 1, which dropped back in May. Streams of Thought Vol. 2 will be available on November 26th. If you have that good ol' TIDAL membership, you can watch the full video exclusively on their website or catch a snippet right here.
