Liam Bailey Returns With A Message For His 'Brother'

Aside from his stirring social commentary piece "Love My Neighbor" a couple of years ago, Liam Bailey's solo studio output practically came to a halt after the 2014 release of Definitely Now. Turns out, the pressures of fame began to take a toll – he desperately needed a break and took the time to clear his head and practice self-care. The hiatus paid off, leading to a supporting slot on Paloma Faith's The Architect Tour over the summer and a new EP scheduled for release on November 9th.

In anticipation of the project, Liam has dropped a brand new single titled, "Brother, Why You Gotta Love Her," featuring his longtime collaborator Maverick Sabre. The slinky Rich Cooper production is a bit different from the edgy, rock-tinged, reggae-soul that dominated Definitely Now. But change isn't always a bad thing. In fact, Mr. Bailey reveals, “I was inspired to write the song after getting out of a long and painful situation that I was in with someone. We loved something other than ourselves and it led to a toxic place. I didn't mean to write the song, I just let things go in the studio and see what happened.”

While the song itself speaks of walking away from a toxic relationship, the overall vibe is incredibly chill. We're digging Liam's new sound and can't wait to hear what else he's been working on.
