Self-proclaimed "Gulf Coast Soul" band The Suffers has us waiting in anticipation for their upcoming album Everything Here. They've been teasing the new project ever since last year, giving us tracks like "Mammas" and "Do Whatever" showcasing their family-style approach to soul music. But in case you didn't get that family feeling from their sound, maybe you'll catch it in their live video for "Do Whatever."
In the clip, the band literally gathers 'round as they prepare to give us some of their signature sound. As the camera circles the...umm...circle, we get introduced to the different members of the band as they play their respective instruments (including a rousing solo from trombonist Michael Razo). But, of course, a lot of the focus is on the group's vocalist Kam Franklin, who offers her raspy vocal for the upbeat jam. Supported by backing vocalists, she amps up the song's party factor as she commands whoever is watching to get up off of that thing and do whatever feels right.
If this live take on the track has you in the mood to grab yourself a piece of The Suffers' live experience, you're in luck. The band has more than a few dates lined up through the summer and into the fall, including a spot at this weekend's Frendly Festival in Waitsfield, Vermont and at the Levitate Festival in Marshfield, Massachusetts on July 7th. You can get more info on The Suffers' tour dates by visiting their website. But first, get some of that live experience by checking out "Do Whatever" right here.
