While winter is holding on and the weather is still a little sketchy, it's not going to stop us from getting our spring and summer festival schedule together. Thankfully you can officially add the DMV's Capital Jazz Fest to your list. The annual festival has a star-studded lineup for their 26th year of supplying music lovers with unforgettable performances. The Capital Jazz Fest is once again bringing your favorite artists to the Merriweather Post Pavillion from Friday, June 1st to Sunday, June 3rd, including headliners Earth, Wind & Fire, Smokey Robinson and Anita Baker as part of her farewell tour.
The three-day event will give you plenty of time to get your soul, R&B and jazz fix in. Jazz connoisseurs will enjoy José James paying tribute to Bill Withers, saxophonist Boney James, incomparable vocalist Rachelle Ferrell, jazz and funk outfit Snarky Puppy, jazzy soul trio Moonchild and Jeff Bradshaw with a few friends. For soul and R&B lovers, there'll be numerous acts to choose from, including a number of women holding it down like SoulBounce family Ledisi, powerhouse vocalist Fantasia, the vocal bible herself Brandy, Liv Warfield & The NPG Hornz and Joss Stone. There'll also be no shortage of soulful fellas on hand, with Keith Sweat, After 7, Dave Hollister, Tevin Campbell and The Hamiltones on the bill.
Split across two stages, there'll be more than 25 performances to jam to during the festival. Based on this year's talent lineup alone, it would behoove you to make plans to attend. Head on over to Capital Jazz Fest's official website on March 17th at 10 a.m. ET to be the first to purchase tickets when they go on sale.
