Cardi B Takes The No. 1 Spot & Makes History In The Process
So, though we avoided it as much as possible, we have to admit that Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow" is a bop. And now we can say it's a chart-topping bop as Cardi's jam took the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 (overthrowing Taylor Swift's dismal track "Look What You Made Me Do," thank God). But not only did her money move land her a chart victory, it also put her in the history books. She's now the first female rapper to top the charts solo since Lauryn Hill did it in 1998 with "Doo Wop (That Thing)." But wait, there's more! The achievement also makes her the fifth solo female rapper ever to nab No. 1 on the chart and the first female artist to hit No. 1 with a debut single since Meghan Trainor did it in 2014 with "All About That Bass." Well damn, Cardi. #BardiGang
