SZA Shows Off Her Black Girl Magic In 'Supermodel'

SZA's CTRL has been the talk of R&B circles since its release this past June. Leading up to the set's release, the songstress wasn't stingy with the singles, dropping "Drew Barrymore," "Love Galore" and "Broken Clocks" in succession. She also has been rather generous with videos as well, taking us interesting places with clips for "Love Galore," "Drew Barrymore" and now album opener "Supermodel."

The song itself finds SZA drowning in her insecurities as she tries to navigate a toxic relationship. However, while the song is all about her losing her CTRL in the name of love, the Nabil-directed video is the opposite. It starts with the singer standing in front of the mirror as she rattles off a stream of thoughts directed at her ambiguous lover. During her therapeutic mirror session, she soon soon morphs into a more glamorous version of herself and struts through a fairy-enchanted forest. However, as she struts her stuff in designer lingerie, she's still haunted by her laughing lover. This prompts her to take it to the playground, where she shoots firecrackers from her fingertips as school-aged children throw them from behind a chain-link fence and the offending fella hops from foot to foot, his laughter dissolving into fear.

"Supermodel" continues the tradition of SZA's CTRL videos being darkly entertaining, which makes us wonder what she's going to come with next. While we contemplate that, check out the video below.
