If you're a Jodeci fan, you'll be happy to hear that one-quarter of the R&B outfit has released a new single. Utilizing R&B harmonies and a sprinkle of hip-hop, Mr. Dalvin has dropped his latest solo effort, "Vindication (Get Money)." With bars provided by New York battle rapper Goodz, it sounds like Mr. Dalvin is on a mission to get money and new fans.
Mr. Dalvin promised new music back in 2015, and he's finally delivering on that promise with the uptempo track. He urges listeners to get on their grind and "get money" in the chorus, and Goodz supplies a gritty verse to support his message. Mr. Dalvin describes the song as, "a testament of how to use other people's lack of belief in your ability as the fuel for achieving your personal goals and dreams."
Dalvin may not have been known as one of the main voices of Jodeci, but his vocals actually aren't bad here. There's some unnecessary Auto-Tune towards the end that drag the song down and sound a little dated, but overall it's a decent effort that may wind up on your motivational playlist.
Jodeci released their last album The Past, The Present, The Future back in 2015, and while we haven't heard much from the group, there are rumors swirling that they're working on a VH1 biopic. Mr. Dalvin last released a solo album, Met.A.Mor.Phic, back in 2000. Now that he's back on the solo tip, he's keeping the promo train rolling by prepping his first solo tour, working on visuals for "Vindication (Get Money)" and putting the finishing touches on his new album.
