Groups have often found inspiration for their names from fruits and vegetables. Over the years, we rocked out to Red Hot Chili Peppers and Korn, bopped along to the pop styles of The Cranberries and shaken our groove thangs to Peaches & Herb. Now there’s another group to add to the list that simply goes by the name PEACH! and describes their music as “organic and locally grown funk.”
The four-man band traces their roots back to 2015 when they came together as students at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. PEACH! is comprised of musicians Maurice Welch on vocals, Max Naseck on keyboards, Andrew Hill on bass and Conor Malloy on drums who all still call L.A. home. A funk band at their core, PEACH! also incorporates a healthy dose of R&B and jazz into their music. The group counts among their influences Stevie Wonder, the Beatles and Vulfpeck, and even with such varied influences as these, one thing is for sure, this band has a whole lot of soul.
