'Queen Sugar' Returns With Explosive Trailer For Season 2

The Bordelons are back! We're at the edge of our seats to catch up the family and their drama with the release of the official trailer for season two of Queen Sugar. The popular series, brought to us by filmmaker Ava DuVernay and executive producer Oprah Winfrey, gets a warm welcome back with a special two-night season premiere next month. Based on the trailer alone, we can tell things are still rocky on the 800-acre sugarcane farm at the center of the story.

The trailer opens with a prayer from our favorite Aunt Violet (Tina Lifford) who continues to keep the family together from what we can see in the scenes that follow. Set in Saint Josephine, Louisiana, the Bordelon siblings are still trying to honor their late father's legacy with the new Queen Sugar Mill. At the end of last season, we thought the new mill would calm things down for the family, but it looks like it's doing the exact opposite. We watch Nova (Rutina Wesley), Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) and Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) go through so many ups and downs in the span of two minutes, taking viewers on an emotional roller coaster already. Charley is still the business mastermind, lauding herself as the first black woman to own a sugar mill, while Nova keeps her head up, using her positive energy to keep her siblings strong. And then there's (the gorgeous) Ralph-Angel, who's still trying to get his life together for him and his son.

Family, race, love and economic tensions are all at play in this new season, all intricately woven together by DuVernay and her talented clique of female guest directors. Something else we can't wait for is the new season's soundtrack since music director Morgan Rhodes kept us grooving through each episode last season. If you're down to take a ride with the Bordelons, then press play to watch the riveting trailer and be sure to catch the two-night season two premiere of Queen Sugar on Tuesday, June 20th and Wednesday, June 21st at 10 p.m. ET/PT on OWN.
