There's something about getting older and giving not nary a f**k about what anyone else thinks about you or your decisions. With nearly 30 years in the game, it's safe to say that the ladies of En Vogue have gotten to that place as well. In fact, they celebrate reaching the pinnacle of self-love on their latest single from their upcoming Electric Cafe, "I'm Good."
The now trio, consisting of original members Terry Ellis and Cindy Herron-Braggs and Rhona Bennett, teams with fellow '90s R&B hitmaker Raphael Saadiq for the confident track. Raphael provides the ladies with a minimal track, which consists of a few Rhodes chords, a bassline, drums and a watery synth loop. The rest of the melody is supplied by the glorious harmonies of the ladies, who still sound great together. "I'm good / Feelin' myself and I'm flirtin' with my reflection," the ladies sing on the chorus, with Terry taking the lead. "Lovin' every inch of my perfect imperfections." The verses are filled with similar sentiments as each of the ladies takes turns expressing what they've found in themselves that has them feeling so damn confident.
While the ladies are all about good vibes, we must admit that we were hoping for a little bit more from the track. Not that it's bad, but it's not something that we think we'll have on repeat. You be the judge for yourself when you take a listen to "I'm Good" right here. And, as an added bonus, check out the ladies performing a medley of their hits on Good Morning America below.
