Earth, Wind & Fire Teams With Nile Rodgers & Chic To Bring Us '2054: The Tour'

Is it just us, or has 2017 had no chill whatsoever when it comes to music? In addition to giving us some of the best albums of the current decade plus prepping us for the reunions of some of our favorite '90s groups, this year has offered a packed schedule of epic tours and concert performances. Just when we thought it was safe to holster our credit cards, a recent announcement has us rethinking our budget plans.

OK, maybe we're being a tad dramatic, but can you blame us? Iconic band Earth, Wind & Fire is partnering with fellow legends Chic featuring Nile Rodgers to bring us 2054: The Tour. While this isn't the first time EWF has teamed up with another major music group – they successfully toured on and off with pop legends Chicago from 2004 to 2016 – the "2054" news carries a different kind of buzz, particularly because the appropriately titled tour acknowledges that both EWF and Chic were way ahead of their time.

Nile Rodgers has been enjoying a resurgence in popularity over the past few years thanks to collaborations with Daft Punk, Pharrell, Duran Duran, Janelle Monáe, Disclosure, Sam Smith and Laura Mvula to name a few. He's also the 2017 recipient of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Award for Musical Excellence (check his bio if you need a refresher course as to why this award is overdue). And with Chic preparing to release their first new album in 25 years (the band has enjoyed its own resurgence as well), the mega tour couldn't have come at a better time.

The music of Earth, Wind & Fire has stood the test of time for almost five decades. The record-breaking, chart-topping, award-winning group is unparalleled in their musicality, lyricism and showmanship. And though they suffered a devastating loss last year when founder Maurice White died, Philip Bailey, Verdine White and Ralph Johnson are keeping the legacy alive and well with performances that delight audiences of all ages.

Bailey is complimentary of his upcoming tourmates, saying, "Nile Rodgers and Chic are legendary for their iconic style, song, sound, and groove. Get ready for a non-stop 2054 party!" Rodgers is equally flattering, adding, "There was a time when we could only dream of 'seeing' Earth, Wind & Fire live, now we get the honor of sharing the stage together. Get your feet ready for a deluge of hits!"

See the current schedule for 2054: The Tour below. While tickets don't go on sale to the general public until April 28th, an American Express pre-sale, as well as platinum and VIP tickets (which includes perks like pre-show party, exclusive merchandise and Adventures In Wonderland concierge service), are available right now. Next weekend, EWF will make an appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival before touring Japan for the month of May. Additionally, for two special weekends in July, they'll be sharing the stage with Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, Journey, and The Doobie Brothers for concert series "The Classic." Tickets for all shows are available via the EWF website.
