SoulBounce Exclusive: Sam Trump Says 'Cheers' To Black Love

We first came to know Sam Trump as a member of the eclectic Bounce-Worthy band Sidewalk Chalk, but the singer/songwriter/producer/musician is pretty Bounce-Worthy on his own accord. Trump has ventured out as a solo artist and has a few projects to his credit, the most recent of which was the Valentine's Day release of his EP Love Notes. On the five-song collection produced by Calvin Valentine, the Houston-born, Chicago-based artist shares songs of love and devotion that he says are "reminiscent of R&B & soul music from another place in time."

Indeed, Sam Trump practically takes us to another era in the music video for his song "Cheers," which was filmed in Chicago's landmark lounge, The California Clipper. The vintage surroundings add character to the piece directed by Addison Wright who bathes the scenes in red, blue or purple lighting to give it a sensual look and feel. Trump plays smooth leading man and bandleader throughout the clip. When he's not onstage performing or sitting in a leather chair sipping on some brown liquor, he's wooing his leading lady as he sings, "There's no other place I'd rather be, than here with you, staring in your eyes," and slow dances with her.

Raise a glass and toast Sam Trump for giving us this celebration of Black love in the visual for "Cheers," which SoulBounce is happy to world premiere. Press play to watch then stay abreast of all things Sam Trump through his official website and on social media via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram.
