Jennifer Hudson Makes Sure We Never Forget Her With 'Remember Me'

The last time we heard from Jennifer Hudson musically (at least on the solo tip) was back in 2015. That's when the Chicago-bred powerhouse unleashed her third album JHUD on us and showed that she could make us move and groove as well as belt out powerful ballads. Since then, she hasn't slowed, making her Broadway debut in the revival of The Color Purple and even landing a coach spot on the UK version of singing competition The Voice. But, no matter what she does, she always comes back to the music, and she does just that with the release of her latest single "Remember Me."

Jennifer puts her fiery alto to good use on the pop-soul number, which uses piano, bass and swirls of strings to up the dramatic ante. But of course that all pales in comparison to J-Hud's gifted vocals. "Remember Me" finds the singer defiant as she dares a past lover to even act like he's forgotten the love they once shared. "I know you remember me / Swear to me the memory isn't sweet," she sings on the building chorus. "Promise me that it doesn't make your heart beat." These words are made even more memorable and searing with the addition of a choir echoing her, making sure that what she's singing hits you right in the soul.

"Remember Me" serves as the lead single for Jennifer's upcoming Epic Records debut, which is scheduled for release sometime this year. You can stream it below via Spotify and pick up a copy of the single at your favorite digital retailer. Also, if you are across the pond, you can see Jennifer Hudson debut the track live on The Voice UK this Sunday, March 5th.
