When I first heard Ruben Hein’ s music, I started bobbing my head with the stank face. His music just feels good. He is a true musician and playfully blends genres ranging from jazz, funk, afrobeat, rock and pop, creating beautiful soundscapes all his own. For many years Ruben worked as a pianist, but upon the urging of legendary Dutch musician Benjamin Herman, Ruben began singing live and the rest is history. He has gone on to perform with top artists including Oleta Adams and the Metropole Orkest and has headlined major festivals including Noorderslag and North Sea Jazz. He has been nominated for several awards including the 3FM Awards and the Edison People’ s Choice Awards and has won two Radio 6 Awards. His voice is heavenly. It has the slight airiness to it like Brian McKnight, yet it has this steely singer-songwriter anchoring to it like a John Mayer that I could listen to all day.

Keep tabs on Ruben Hein on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Enjoy this video of one of my favorite tunes of his, “Say Bye,” live in performance.
