J2’s Grand Remake Of 'The Boy Is Mine' Settles The Score

We normally wouldn't advocate women fighting over a man, but somehow J2's rendition of Brandy and Monica's monster hit “The Boy Is Mine” raises the dispute from a catty argument to that of an epic Spartan battle. With thunderous and dramatic transitions, it's no wonder that this sonically gloomy piece is featured on the trailer of Sony Pictures upcoming thriller, When the Bough Breaks. The film, starring Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall and Jaz Sinclair, includes its own theme of lust and drama, and this track serves as the perfect accompaniment.

British music producer/composer Jay Singh, aka J2, flexes his sophisticated, imaginative and versatile muscles across genres, and masterfully recreates this Grammy award-winning R&B classic. The track features vocalists StarGzrLily and Anjolee the Free, both out of California. Singer/songwriter StarGzrLily (aka Breana Marin), has worked with hit-making producers Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and RedOne, and has written for a number artists, including Keyshia Cole and Letoya Luckett. Anjolee the Free credits years of singing in her father’s church choir for shaping her ear for harmonies and further developing her craft.
