Zo! and Carmen Rodgers brought the SkyBreak Tour to the DMV for one night only at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club on Thursday, August 11th. The twosome, who also tour together as members of The Foreign Exchange collective, were backed by members of the Detroit-based band Collective Peace, Robbie McDonald on guitar and Leroy "Boogie" Greer on percussion.

These talented musicians started the night on a high with "Starlight" and never came down, treating those in attendance to selections from Zo!'s SkyBreak, ManMade and SunStorm and Carmen's The Bitter Suite and Stargazer. Not only did fans get to hear their favorite songs, such as "Count To Five," "A Season," "Lifelines" and "We Are On the Move," but they got to attend a comedy show with witty remarks from Zo! and Carmen all night long. The most amazing moments of the evening, however, came when Zo! surprised everyone and began to rap and sing. Zo! busted Phonte's rhyme from "I Don't Mind," and he wasn't too shabby on the mic at all. And as far as his vocals, he got an A for effort. Carmen's vocals on the other hand were on point all night as she became a chameleon and took the place of Muhsinah on "Packing For Chicago" and Joi on "Just Whatcha Like" in addition to shining on her own cuts "Stargazer" and "It's Me." A very special part of the show for us came when Zo! took a few moments to personally thank SoulBounce for the support and wish us a happy 9th birthday.

This SkyBreak Tour stop was a fine homecoming for Zo!, who now calls the DMV home, and he was right at home at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club. The chemistry between everyone onstage and the love from everyone who came out to this concert made for a fantastic night of musicianship and fellowship.
