While Bounce-Worthy artist Jae Franklin is certainly no stranger to our pages, these past few months have ensured that we'll be singing her praises for a long, long time. Back in January, the Dubai-based singer-songwriter was kind enough to give us an exclusive preview of her (then) forthcoming EP Cheers to Life with the brooding alt-track "Ronnie's Theory." The slow-burner was instantly a favorite of ours, but once the full album was released another song arrested our attention as well. "Weary," an emotionally-charged ballad that speaks to the human struggle, left a mark on us that was further deepened by its stirring video.

Since then, the powerful song has taken on a life of its own, including a partnership with Amnesty International which allowed Jae to donate all of the proceeds from the single to the noteworthy organization back in April. Now, the singer is giving listeners a little something extra with the release of The Weary Remixes. The song gets reworked by a trio of producers — Genghis, Elton Bryce & Shayzar (featuring Zimbabwean rapper Trey XL) and Bentley Jones — each offering creative interpretations that incorporate R&B, hip hop, alt-soul and new age. The delightful results are unique to each artist, yet retain the inspirational warmth of the Kwame Busia-produced original.

In addition to the remixes, Ms. Franklin also dropped an impressive cover of Labrinth's mournfully beautiful piece, "Jealous." Quite honestly, her cover of Maxwell's "Lake By the Ocean" (which recently got a shout-out from the singer himself) is the best we've heard to date. She brings the same fervor to "Jealous," incorporating soulful harmonies and sending us deep into our feelings as her graceful soprano floats over moody piano and sincere strings.
