Snakehips has consistently impressed us since they landed on our radar back in 2013. In addition to some killer remixes, the U.K.-based production duo of Oliver Lee and James Carter is quite skilled at making beats and crafting original grooves. Their latest EP All My Friends has proven to be no exception. After teasing us with the title cut, an infectious electro-pop ditty featuring Tinashe and Chance the Rapper, they went on to deliver synth-driven hip hop with "Money On Me," an icy tune with a magnetic cameo by Anderson .Paak.
For the project's final preview, they tagged London soulstress Malika for "Falling." Dialing back their signature futuristic sound, they adopt a more classic approach that perfectly suits the R&B jam. Buoyed by vibrant horns, hand claps and drums, Malika's voice soars, effortlessly showcasing her incredible range. Snakehips recently told Fader that they "felt like making a more classic-sounding soul [and] R&B record...and Malika's voice worked so good with the vibe.” We couldn't agree more.
If you want to catch the talented producers stateside, they'll be playing two separate weekend dates at Coachella in addition to limited stops in Colorado and California, so be sure to check their website for details. In the meantime, fall in love with the new single below and head to iTunes to download All My Friends in its entirety. Afterwards, be sure to check out another Snakehips/Malika collabo below. "Put it On Me" is the first taste of Malika's forthcoming debut EP and features additional production from Maths Time Joy.
