Once again, the DMV's Summer Spirit Festival promises to be more than just another concert. Every year, the festival brings the best in soul, R&B, hip hop and homegrown go-go together for an amazing show. The 11th annual event makes good on that promise with an impressive line-up of bonafide stars and up-and-comers and expanding from one day to two. The 2016 Summer Spirit Festival is guaranteed to be a scorcher -- and we’re not talking about that August heat, either.
Erykah Badu continues to be the artist-in-residence at the event, making yet another return to the festival to headline the first day on Saturday, August 6th. Joining her will be Janelle Monáe, Gregory Porter, Leela James, Avery*Sunshine, Daley and Be'La Dona with DJ Kool and Sugar Bear. Badu's sister in soul Jill Scott will be the headlining act on Sunday, August 7th. The list of performer's on that day includes The Roots, Kindred the Family Soul, Team Familiar, The Chuck Brown Band and Wisdom Speeks.
The 2016 Summer Spirit Festival takes place the first weekend in August at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Two-day and single-day event passes are on sale now and can be purchased from Ticketfly. For more information on this exciting festival, visit CD Enterprises, Inc.
