It’s the track we’ve been anticipating since Tweet announced she was releasing a new album: the collaboration with Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott. What can we say, there’s something special about hearing Missy yell “New Tweet!” that brings out a sense of joy, nostalgia and even relief.  The song, "Somebody Else Will,” definitely lives up to their past collaborations and successes.

The track begins with Missy giving us the low down on her man over a warped soul sample before the bass line drops and Tweet pleads her case, singing, “I’m wondering do you still love me / ‘Cause I don’t see it in your eyes.” While Tweet is upset, she’s not bitter. She’s vulnerable, but resolute in knowing that if this love doesn’t work out, there’s someone else better  out there. The song isn’t a warning, a threat or a boast, but a matter-of-fact statement to her lover and to herself, sung as heavenly as a baby’s lullaby.

Unlike most rap/sung collaborations, the song actually feels organic between the two. While Missy only contributes her guest verse at the beginning of the song, that’s where it logically belongs. Each person plays their part supremely, creating a melodic mid-tempo jam.

“Somebody Else Will” is the latest single from what’s shaping up to be an incredible comeback album. Each track has out-shined the last, from “Won’t Hurt Me” to "Magic" to “Never Shouda Left Ya,” with the latest single looking to be the best. The wait for Tweet's  Charlene will finally be over on February 26th — and it won’t be too soon.
