This has been a blessed time for Tina Campbell. Her reality show with sister Erica Campbell, Mary Mary, returns to WE tv for its fifth season on Thursday, March 3rd, and just this past weekend in Las Vegas she won two Stellar Awards for Traditional Female Vocalist and Traditional CD of the Year for her solo effort It's Personal. While in Vegas for the Stellar Awards weekend of festivities, Tina exclusively world premiered the music video for her song “Speak the Word” at the Stellar Gospel Radio & Announcer Awards. Today, she's treating all of her fans who may not have been there to the online premiere via Ebony.
“Speak the Word” features vocals from Tina's husband Teddy Campbell, and the visuals directed by Derek Blanks with creative direction from Terrell Mullins are a throwback to a time of foot-stomping, hand-clapping, tambourine-waving, good old chuuch circa the early 20th century. How fitting that the video would be set against the backdrop of the old one-room churches of the South with faithful congregants finely clad in their Sunday best complete with the ubiquitous ornate hats. The video is an Atkins/Campbell family affair with cameos from matriarch Honey Atkins, Erica and many of their siblings and beautiful children. The loving glances Teddy and Tina exchange throughout round out the happy feelings the video engenders in the hearts of fans.
The fun continues when Sunday morning service meets Saturday night juke joint shenanigans with the churchgoers up out of the pews and dancing in the aisles to the jamming house (of worship) band.
