Now she ends 2015 with the banger “Did I,” which should be the anthem for anyone with some major life goals who needs to clean out their "friends" list in 2016 (or who just wants to go beast mode in the gym). From the moment the songs starts, Kehlani rides the beat with the same attitude and confidence as any rapper. Her spitfire delivery accentuates lyrics like, “I been hard / I write every word and they been bars.” While the infectious hook asks the important questions, “Did I hurt your feelings when I stunted like that? / Did I hurt your feelings when I hustled like that?”
Kehlani leaves the listener curious about who she might be referring to with her aggressive lyrics akin to melodic daggers cutting an unknown antagonist down to size. We definitely wouldn’t want to get on her bad side, but we are enjoying all the shade this song serves up cold.
