St. Beauty Takes Us On A Trip In The Visuals For 'Going Nowhere'

St. Beauty is definitely going somewhere after the release of their first music video for their debut single “Going Nowhere.” While a lot of people may know St. Beauty from their spot in the Wondaland Arts Society (alongside industry vets Janelle Monáe and Jidenna), the duo has been breaking free and creating an image and sound for themselves. They recently toured as the opening act for The Internet and their debut music video for "Going Nowhere" marks their entrance into the industry as independent artists.

The video was directed by Lacey Duke, who has worked with artists like Janelle and Esperanza Spalding. She did an excellent job of transcribing St. Beauty's personal and musical aesthetic into the project. While the song itself is about a relationship that has potential but is inevitably headed nowhere, the video is a celebration of millennial culture, individuality and love. As the girls travel the countryside to their next show in an orange Volkswagen van, the throwback, vintage feeling of the video and tone is contrasted with the modernity of St. Beauty's soulful sound, with the video ending with the ladies performing in front of a crowd that's as stylish as they are.

We are excited to see what St. Beauty puts out next, and hopefully we'll see some of their #BlackGirlMagic in the form of an album. Check out the video below and check out their super stylish Instagram here.
