Just a few short days ago, before August ended and the summer slipped away from us, R&B fans and listeners celebrated the 20th anniversary of Faith Evans’ debut album and what would have been Michael Jackson’s 57th birthday. Evans’ daughter Tahjere is helping us remember Faith and the King of Pop by unleashing a nostalgic mashup that she’s simply calling “Remember.”

Bringing together her mother’s 1995 breakout single “You Used To Love Me” and Jackson’s “Remember the Time,” Tahjere not only pays homage to the legacy of R&B royalty but she also re-introduces herself and shows why she deserves to shine next. You can hear her mother’s influence all over her vocals, but she certainly has a special flare of her own and the way that she modernizes these two classic records proves that. This mashup could easily go toe to toe with what the likes of Tinashe, Teyana Taylor and Sevyn Streeter are offering the industry.

This young triple threat (producer/singer/songwriter) is on the right track, and we look forward to hearing more of what she has to offer. For now, get into Tahjere’s thumping tribute right here.
