Jimmy Fallon & ‘The Tonight Show’ Crew Have Fun With ‘Empire’ Parody, ‘Jimpire’

Empire fans are gearing up for must see ratchet TV with the season two premiere popping off tonight on FOX. Everyone’s favorite guilty pleasure returns with more family drama, original music and celebrity guest stars this year, and we’re so ready to watch it all come to life. Before we tune in and get caught up in the tangled web of the Lyon fam, though, we’re gonna let off some steam and get our laugh on courtesy of Jimmy Fallon and his Empire parody, Jimpire, that premiered last night during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The 10-minute short film was filled with foolery galore as Fallon played Juicy Jim, a Lucious Lyon-type character complete with a slick hairdo, faux mustache/goatee combo, swag-deficient outfit and dramatic speaking voice, head of The Tonight Show empire. Juicy, er, Jimmy was joined by Questlove and Black Thought who played two of the heirs to The Tonight Show throne and announcer Steve Higgins as Higgy, in the most ridiculous role and outfit of all, giving Cookie Lyon a run for her money, animal prints and one-liners. Cameos from real Empire stars Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson took Jimpire over the top. The short ended on a side eye with combover king Donald Trump taking over the Jimpire, but there were enough laughs to be had throughout to make this silliness worth watching.

Rest assured we’ll be watching Empire tonight on FOX at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT and bringing back SoulBounce’s Empire Watch recaps every Thursday starting tomorrow!
