Now, NAN is partnering with TV One to present the first-ever televised broadcast of the awards ceremony. Sharpton affirmed, "I can't think of a better broadcast partner than TV One for the first televised airing of the Triumph Awards. The network's track record in delivering quality programming that entertains and illuminates as well as reflects the principles NAN and the Triumph Awards celebrate is second to none and we are excited about this next step in our Triumph Award movement."
Hosted by Tichina Arnold, the 2015 ceremony will take place on September 12th in Atlanta, GA. This year's honorees are Civil rights leader, activist and minister Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery; GRAMMY and Oscar-winning singer/songwriter and humanitarian, John Legend (who previously won the Triumph Education Award in 2010); actor, singer and philanthropist, Tyrese Gibson; Emmy-winning comedienne, actress and producer, Wanda Sykes; and Chief Diversity Officer and Global Director of Education and External Relations for Intel, Rosalind Hudnell.
In addition to inspiring us through the recognition of these wonderful individuals, the ceremony will also feature some outstanding entertainment. Robert Glasper will serve as Musical Director for the event, orchestrating the house band for the evening and no doubt putting his distinctive stamp on every arrangement. Other performers include Jazmine Sullivan, Estelle, Ledisi, Tasha Cobbs and Tyrese. NAN Executive Director Janaye Ingram concludes, “Through our show, people will experience the power of musical artistry as a message medium while it is interwoven with the triumphant stories of the luminaries who will be honored.” Be sure to tune in to TV One on October 3rd to witness this worthwhile and unforgettable event.
