It's been a minute since we've heard from Slakah the Beatchild, but that doesn't mean the brother isn't busy. Besides dropping his Soul Movement Vol. 2 project in early 2013, Slakah has been behind the boards on a pretty regular basis. This includes his most recent project, a five-song EP with singer Lizzie Nightingale, who goes simply by Nightingale, called Transition.

Transition finds the pair taking old school soul sounds and flipping them for today's audience by marrying them with a bit of modern production. Nowhere is this more evident than on the set's second track, the effortlessly soulful "Back To Where You Started." The song incorporates simple keys, splashes of organ and even some muted horns into the mix, giving it a homegrown, organic feel. But what brings it home is Nightingale's lovely vocal, which is powerful without being forceful as she encourages the hurt and overwhelmed to go back to the beginning of it all and try it again when they feel defeated.

Of course "Back To Where You Started" isn't the only thing worth listening to here, as each track is pretty solid in its own unique way. And, lucky for you, the twosome has decided to release the entire stellar collection for the free. Get your ear hustle on by streaming the EP here and make sure you grab your free download of each of the tracks below.
