After bewitching us with her last single “NeoB,” soulful jazz chanteuse Léla Sophia continues to show that she is an extraordinary artist with her latest single “Ordinary High.” This time around, Léla sings about viewing the minutiae of everyday life with an optimistic outlook. In a recent email interview, Léla shared her insightful perspective on rushing through life, “I’m learning to appreciate life as it comes, and love all the moments in-between, that’s where real growth happens.”
Produced by fellow New Yorker and emerging jazz artist OlMac Dah, “Ordinary High” evokes a feeling of perpetual serenity with sedate synths, steady percussion and harmonious keys. Though the track’s theme is motivational, the arrangement emits a charmingly sensual vibe. Léla’s voice is a soothing melodic hybrid of Diana Krall imbued with the contemporary presence of Lianne La Havas as she softly sings, “I know in time it will get easier to find a love, remain strong / Start to find peace of mind / Ordinary high.”
If you need to find some peace in your life, press play on “Ordinary High” and let Léla Sophia take you there for at least a few minutes of your day.
