With our girl Lauryn Hill in the midst of a resurgence and playing such a key role in the recent Nina Simone tribute album, Nina Revisited: A Tribute To Nina Simone, it's only right that she took The Tonight Show stage yet again to promote the project. The former Fugee, resplendent in all black from hat to flowing skirt, brought her rendition of Simone's timeless classic "Feeling Good" to life for the audience in the studio and at home.
To say that she did an amazing job would be an understatement. Backed by a full band, including horn and string sections, Ms. Hill ripped through the song with an energy and vibrancy that, quite frankly, many haven't seen from the singer in years. Not only that, but she seemed to be enjoying herself, allowing herself to get caught up in the music and spirit of the song as she took her band and singers through their paces. Could the mesmerizing performance signal the return of Lauryn Hill and the promise of finally getting another album from the singer?
While we won't rush that particular outcome (we've seen how that can play out), we wouldn't be mad if it happened. In the meantime, join us in watching Lauryn in her element and doing her thing like only she can when you press play below.
