With 10 years in the game as a solo artist, it’s safe to say that Bobby V has established himself. And, despite no longer being signed with a major label, the R&B crooner is still set to make major moves with his return. We’ve already heard his last single, “Unbelievable.” Now comes word that he’s readying a mini-movie, Hollywood Hearts, which will also star fellow singers Asia Sparks and Lyfe Jennings as well as mark the singer’s formal acting debut.
To set things off, Bobby has released the first single and video from the upcoming project, also titled “Hollywood Hearts.” The song itself is a contemplative tune that finds him questioning love and the changes he’s been going through with his girl. Though not entirely original in concept, it’s a fairly solid R&B outing. The video, however, starts a bit shaky. It starts with an argument between Bobby and his girl — which lasts a full minute of the video’s six-minute play time, by the way — during which Bobby informs her he’s going to Cali. It’s the last straw for her and she tells Bobby not to come back if he leaves. Bobby, of course, leaves anyway and next time we see him, he’s walking back and forth on the beach as he reminisces about the love he once had.
Truth be told, it’s all a bit too melodramatic for our tastes. But then again, maybe that’s the point. In any event, I’m sure we’ll be watching when the full mini-movie is released in September. Until then, we can watch the clip for “Hollywood Hearts” below. And if you’re feeling the track, you can pick it up at iTunes now.
