Treasure Davis knows a lot about heartbreak. The last time we heard from her, she was asking herself why she was staying in a rocky relationship on the single "Simple." In her latest release, "Heart Flavored Sucker," Treasure sings about loving a man who "loves" her but isn't "in love." You know, the guy who tells you he doesn't want to be in a serious relationship and then proceeds to spend all of his time with you. Yeah, that dude. Treasure laments, "Cause I don't want to be the only one in love, only one in love / And I am there fallin' alone/ See I just want love/But you a heart flavored sucker, babe." Rapper Luke Christopher comes to her aid, but only to explain that he's feeling her but never fell in love because she's not the one. Ouch.
The B.A.M. (Chris Brown, Marsha Ambrosius) -produced track layers a haunting piano line over the faint sound of a flute and a hip hop drum loop, complimenting Davis' sweet and emotive vocals. Treasure is definitely giving us something we can feel on "Heart Flavored Sucker." Get into the song right here, and keep an eye and ear out for her forthcoming EP, Heart Flavored Summer, dropping soon.
