Chrisette Michele is taking a break from working on her new album and her new fascination with taking over YouTube to share something really personal. The “Better” singer and her family are mourning the loss of one of her cousins and she has chosen to deal with the unfortunate event by putting her pain into her music. Today she released the song “Still,” which is dedicated to her cousin and comes along with an open letter to her family.
“Still” is a powerful ballad that highlights Michele’s passion, lyrics and vocals accompanied by the beautiful strokes of a piano’s keys. “Everything, everything, everything you need’s in you / Everything, everything, everything, you ever wished to be / Keep dreaming, keep dreaming, keep dreaming / Don’t forget to keep living if I’m still sleeping when you arrive,” she sings. This stripped down number allows us to hear the heart and genuine sentiment of Chrisette Michele and reminds us what we love most about her. In her letter to the family she added, "Know that your brothers journey wasn’t in vain. It’s your journey too and it will give you the strength to pursue every dream and be the most incredible legacy for him, for your family, for you, and for our Father God." We send our condolences out to her and her family, and we look forward to more beautiful music from her soon.
