It's Always 'The Right Time' For Kaytranada's Tuxedo Remix

Is there anything hotter than a Kaytranada remix? We've seen the Canadian beat maestro flip everything from Janet Jackson's "If" to Azealia Banks' "ATM Jam," each time providing an unexpected twist to something we had grown accustomed to. Since he's been focusing more on his own material and producing original tracks for others, his flips have become increasingly rare. Perhaps that's why we're so happy to get a new remix from Kaytra, this time taking on two-man '80s funk revival Tuxedo's "The Right Time."

While the elastic electro-funk of the original is definitely a good time, Kaytranada does away with it for his take, instead incorporating a bit of drum work from BADBADNOTGOOD with some fancy synth work of his own to create a futuristic jam. He also distorts the vocals on the track for good measure, causing a vocoder-like effect in spots that anchors the song in its '80s influences while still keeping it aiming for new horizons.

Of course, you can find the original on Tuxedo's self-titled debut, but there's no word from their label Stones Throw if or when this hot remix will be available to add to you collection. As a consolation, though, you can stream the track to your heart's content right here. You're welcome.
