Eryn unleashes her voice in full a cappella with no Auto-Tune or overproduction to give us reprieve from the depths of her vocal fury. Her background singers, who will put any Baptist church choir or Sunday’s Best contestant to shame, fill in the spaces between notes with strong, enchanting melody.
The artist has released an equally thrilling yet simple visual for the song. The Austin Vesely-directed black-and-white video finds Kane in a dark room, singing into a light-bulb as a substitute microphone, as a heart nailed to the wall bleeds out onto the floor. Eryn gets lost in the blood of her savior as she gives thanks for her blessings.
While there is precious little information about the the Detroit-born emerging star, we’re pretty sure it won’t be too long until we have the full details on every aspect of her life. Her dreams, inspirations and worst fears will all be laid bare. The tabloids will misspell her name in their rush to be first to acknowledge the artist’s talent. We will speculate who she’s dating, who wants to date her and other details that have nothing to do with the music. On “Have Mercy” we are witnessing the violent birth of a star. We can’t wait to see how bright she’ll shine on her debut EP, Aviary, coming soon.
