Much of the world was introduced to Erykah Badu in 1997 through her breakthrough single "On & On" off of the canonical neo-soul classic Baduizm. "On & On" has proven to be timeless, paced breezily, at a pace of a slow snap, smooth head nod or relaxing Sunday drive.
Invoker, the Parisian producer based in Brooklyn who has become a fast favorite here at SoulBounce, colors Badu's signature track with soulful house elements, looping the melodic chorus and kicking the RPMs up several notches. This "On & On" remix is easily dance-worthy, incorporating house-laced beats in a way that doesn't smother the soulfulness Badu is known for. With enough changes to avoid monotony or losing our attention, Invoker's remix adds enough pieces to seamlessly transport the song between genres. He takes a subtle approach to his remix, being careful to not attempt to totally recreate a classic, and our bet is that Badu purists and soulful house fans alike will not be disappointed.
