SoulBounce Exclusive: Ruth Koleva & Friends Have A Good Time In 'Dissonant' Music Video World Premiere

Ruth Koleva Dissonant Still

Songbird Ruth Koleva was inducted into our Bounce-Worthy family in 2012 and has shown us time and again why she was she was so deserving of the honor. Her most recent album, the self-titled Ruth, is a warm and lush experience, filled with elements of jazz, funk, soul and all-around good vibes. Sadly, she's nearing the end of the album cycle with the release of the project's last single, "Dissonant."

Before she says farewell to Ruth, though, the singer gifted us with the video for "Dissonant" and we here at SBHQ are happy to exclusively share it with you with our world premiere. The song itself is a throwback to the early sounds of neo-soul with a heady combination of horns, guitar and synth that finds Ruth singing about romantic relations between men and women. It's a vibe that she captures expertly in the clip, which has a feel reminiscent of Janet Jackson's "That's The Way Love Goes." Ruth, looking easy, breezy, beautiful, enjoys a night out as girls and guys flirt and dance with each other to the song's seductive groove. But there's one couple in particular who are drawn to each other, flirting at first with eye contact before heading off to a secluded corner to get to know each other a little better. But with a song like "Dissonant" as the soundtrack, who can blame them for wanting to get a little closer.

Though Ruth's chapter is coming to a close, it most certainly won't be the last you'll hear from Ms. Koleva. The ever-busy singer/songwriter is prepping her remix album, Rhythm Slave, for this spring, with Kaidi Tatham's remix of "What Am I Supposed To?" giving us a preview of what's to come. Until we can get our hands on that one, sit back, relax and groove along to the visuals for "Dissonant" and, if you haven't already, pick up your copy of Ruth from iTunes.
