THEESatisfaction Give 'Recognition' To Black Art

TheeSatisfaction Recognition Video

Seattle natives THEESatisfaction have teamed up with Sub Pop Records and Harriet’s Gun Media to bring forth the first single and visual off of their forthcoming EarthEE album, and it’s quite a magical offering. The song is titled “Recognition,” and it builds upon a foundation of tribal drums and sounds while eventually transforming into a synth-heavy knock, as Stas and Cat chant back and forth. “You believe and you blink / You think / That it isn’t seen / Your faithfulness / Your dedication / But no work goes without recognition,” they sing.

These two manage to turn a powerful song into an even more powerful video by appropriately using this moment to honor and pay homage to a host of black artists. From passing through the homes of Marian Anderson, John Coltrane and Sun-Ra, to the grave of Langston Hughes and allowing us all to be graced with the presence and work of Xenobia Bailey, each and every stop on this beautifully black visual journey is astounding. Along with artists of the past, Stas and Cat also honor and share their light with a few of our current favorite creatives including the likes of Columbia Nights, MoRuf and Iman Omari.

THEESatisfaction’s promising EarthEE album is set to be released on February 24th, but you can pre-order it off of iTunes and be blessed with a copy of “Recognition” now.
