Anthony Hamilton Home For The Holidays [Review][Amazon][iTunes][Google Play]

It's an unwritten "rule" that Christmas music typically only gets played between Thanksgiving and Christmas (or until New Year's Eve, but that's stretching it). However, with the release of Anthony Hamilton's Home for the Holidays we found an album that made us want to extend the holiday season to year round. Hamilton included a satisfying selection of Christmas standards and covers, such as "Santa Claus Go Straight to the Ghetto," "Little Drummer Boy" and "Away In a Manger," where he put his own twist and spin on familiar tracks. But it was his yuletide originals, including "It's Christmas," "Spend Christmas With You," "Home for the Holidays" and "Spirit of Love," that took this album to another level and packed a soulful punch with equal parts R&B, funk and gospel. Anthony Hamilton's Home for the Holidays has shown itself to be the gift that keeps on giving. -- Butta
