Flying Lotus' latest project, You're Dead!, took listeners on an unexpected journey through the afterlife as the musician and producer pondered what happens after one takes that final breath. Likewise, the first video from the set, "Never Catch Me," was an imaginative romp stemming from what would seem a somber moment. FlyLo continues releasing visually arresting videos from the set with his latest clip for "Coronus, the Terminator."
Of the visual, FlyLo says:
“For me, Coronus is one of the most important moments on You're Dead! and holds ideas I'm planning to explore in my future work. I’m happy that the visual encapsulates the meaning of the record and this ambition”
Similar in theme to "Never Catch Me," the visual finds an man who appears to be on his deathbed as family gathers around him. Soon, however, things get a little bit strange. Time stops and the man gets up and walks into another world it seems. One where our man FlyLo and others are dressed in white and covered it what appears to be a chalky, white substance. What transpires next is both one of the most visually inspired and most unsettling things I've seen in a music video.
Of course, I won't give any of the video's plot away, but I will strongly urge you to watch the haunting, artistic clip. And if you haven't had the pleasure of listening to You're Dead!, then be sure to pick up a copy of the album, which is in stores now.
