Casino Gold Takes A Trip To '1981' With Hall & Oates

Remember Hall & Oates“I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do)”? Of course you do! But for those youngins out there, know that it’s a soul-pop gem from 1981 that found major chart success reaching the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The tune has also been immortalized thanks to a slew of samples and covers over the decades.

Another take on the blue-eyed soul standard has been added to the mix — literally. Los Angeles-based duo Casino Gold has transformed the classic into the "tropical soul" floor-filler “1981.” The track borrows the “I’ll do anything” found in the original’s bridge, putting the phrase on repeat over the top of a piano key-filled melody that’s fleshed out with other progressive house elements.

Though the song is an update to the original, it gets far more anachronistic with some touches of ’90s house sprinkled into the formula. The mood-pleasing and surely crowd-pleasing “1981” signals more fun-filled melodies from Casino Gold, whose All I Need EP is available for download for free on SoundCloud.
