Bilal Is 'Slipping Away' On The Streets Of Paris

Bilal Slipping Away Still

Bilal's A Love Surreal may have been released nearly two years ago, but it's definitely an album worth revisiting time and time again. One of the set's most memorable tracks is the searing, painful love lost ballad "Slipping Away." It finds a mournful Bilal bitterly singing of a love that's dying right before the singer's eyes.

To further illustrate that point, Bilal takes a page out of Janet Jackson and Adele's playbook for the song's just released video. In it, he walks the streets of Paris alone as the song's somber guitar and solemn lyrics play soundtrack to his pain. As his journey through the city continues, he's constantly crossing paths with what seems to be his lost love, though they never communicate with more than longing looks, seemingly oblivious to the presence of each other. But that all changes at video's end when Bilal's lady love hops in a car and a distraught Mr. Oliver goes running after her to no avail.

If you've ever been through a similar situation (or are currently knee deep in one), then this one is sure to tug at your heartstrings and have you way into your feelings, like any good Bilal song does. If you happen to live in or near NYC, though, once you're done with your ugly cry you can cheer yourself up by picking up tickets to Bilal's holiday performance at Brooklyn Bowl on December 11th, which is sure to help you shed those blues.
