All-4-One is one of the few male R&B groups that still has its membership intact, and considering the guys have been harmonizing hits since 1994, that's quite a feat! After two decades in the game, the group has dropped a new EP, Christmas, Vol. One, which features the track "Old School Christmas."
Like any proper Christmas song, the bells jingle and the melody is upbeat and of the season. And, like any proper holiday video (see Anthony Hamilton's "Home for the Holidays"), images of softly falling snow, festively decorated living rooms and plates full of sweet treats wallpaper the screen, all setting the mood for a visit from St. Nick.
With lyrics reminiscing about sugar cookies and specially baked pumpkin pies, and even more modern memories about playing Pac-Man on a newly gotten Atari and watching the ubiquitous A Christmas Story, "Old School Christmas" will evoke one's own fond feelings for the holidays and the loved ones with whom they're spent. The best gift of all may be the ongoing effort of the group, who continues to deliver the corny-but-lovable songs that we confess to loving — and appreciate among the sea of solo acts.
