'The Kids Aren't Alright,' But Mélat's Refix Sure Is

Mélat has been captivating us with her angelic vocals for more than a year now and has been especially busy in 2014, releasing her Side B series this past spring. After blowing us away with her Britney Spears refix, she's back with a new one in the form of a reworking of The Offspring's "The Kids Aren't Alright."

In her hands, Mélat strips away the song's punk rock origins, instead turning it into a slightly ethereal good time. Frequent collaborator Pha the Phenom handles the production again, creating the sparse playground for Mélat's voice to frolic across.

Released to commemorate the one year anniversary of her Canon Series, the song is also a timely one, especially in light of the unrest taking place in Ferguson, Missouri. While it certainly won't erase the pain that is being felt across the country, the song captures the pervasive frustration and uncertainty that the controversial decision has left in its wake.
