SoulBounce fave Jesse Boykins III rewarded patient fans earlier this year with the release of his long-awaited album, Love Apparatus. But that collection just got repackaged in a deluxe offering, giving listeners fresh remixes and fresh tunes.
One of the latter is the DJ Angelus-produced "Our Tonight is Mine." The synthy and silky track may at first confuse, as the melody emits lounge-style house sensuality. But hidden beneath that deep house vibe is a deeper, more complex mid-tempo groove, one that Boykins utilizes to the fullest with trademark falsettos and well-placed "oohs."
But the track does more than play with vocals and tempos, it also plays a forbidden game of love. "I just wanna be with you alone / Even if the world does not condone / our love," he sings to his muse, making it clear (repeatedly) that he "just wants to be with you tonight."
The hot-and-heavy nature of the softer song elements is an enticing treat for JBIII fans, and a solid sample of the other offerings on Love Apparatus' deluxe edition.
