Seattle-based dj100proof got feet moving on dance floors earlier this year with mash-ups of Pharrell and Fela Kuti, as well as Usher and Shalamar. But next up in his remix queue is a new interpretation of Tinashe’s mid-tempo jam “2 On,” which pairs her vocals from one of Teena Marie’s best-loved hits.
Borrowing the beat of legendary remixer John Morales’ version of Teena’s “I Need Your Lovin,’” “2 On” gets turnt up to an 11 with a boogie-down, funk-infused, disco-like rhythm that will immediately get toes tapping and heads nodding. Now, this is not to say that Tinashe’s original take doesn’t possess its own smooth groove — quite the opposite, in fact. But this new new-school/old-school remake instantly gives the track cross-generational appeal and keeps “2 On” fun and continues to build its reputation as a party-starter.
If you wanna feel the funk again and again, but sure to download it from dj100proof’s SoundCloud account.
