We haven't made it to Halloween yet, but that doesn't mean that Maysa isn't already in the holiday spirit. On October 28th, the velvet-voiced singer will release her first holiday album, A Very Maysa Christmas. The album features her take on classics such as "Joy to the World" and "The Little Drummer Boy," in addition to her original song "It's the Holidays." Guests include singer Will Downing ("This Christmas") and saxophonist Gerald Albright ("Silver Bells").
For the album's first single, Maysa covers Edwin Hawkins' "Pray for Peace." A backing choir helps her stay true to the song's gospel roots, while still keeping it decidedly Maysa. Stirring images from such events as the historic March on Washington and the recent protests in Ferguson are featured in the touching video. You can catch the singer performing some songs from the album when she joins Dave Koz on the road on the Dave Koz & Friends Christmas Tour when it kicks off in November.
