Seeing as Mary J. Blige recorded the entirety of her new album, The London Sessions, in the UK, it was only fitting that she performed the songs first across the pond as well. The songstress, who just gave us singles "Whole Damn Year" and "Therapy" this week, held court as a guest on the time-honored late night talk show Later...With Jools Holland.
The Queen of Hip Hop Soul took to the stage and performed "Therapy" and her UK single "Right Now." Cloaked in all-black and with her honey blonde locks expertly flipped to the side, she brought a healthy dose of soul to the show with damn-near studio quality vocals. The more somber "Therapy" was given an appropriately emotional performance with Mary showing a bit of restraint in both her vocals and movement on the stage. The more upbeat "Right Now," however, saw Mary get things jumpin', with the Queen bouncing around and eventually encouraging the audience to clap along.
While Mary is definitely showing the UK lots of love, we look forward to her bringing her show Stateside, as we're loving everything we're hearing from The London Sessions thus far. Check out Mary doing her thing on Later... and mark your calendars for The London Sessions release on November 24th in the UK and December 2nd in the US.
