Macy Gray's already shown us what she's got in store on her upcoming The Way with singles "Stoned" and "Bang Bang," but she gives us another preview with her latest single, "Hands." The song finds the "I Try" singer pining for love as she makes it known that she's gotta get her hands on the man of her dreams. Calling him all kinds of pet names ("My teddy bear, my honey, boo, my little buttercup," she says at one point), her interest in getting some lovin' is made pretty darn clear.
Musically, "Hands" is an enjoyable listen. It's built on a funky, lilting guitar riff surrounded by layered backgrounds, bass and a driving drum rhythm that propels the song into danceable territory while still keeping everything sugary sweet. With Macy's unique, raspy voice floating over the top, it all comes together for a tune that is sure to find itself stuck in your head.
